Welcome to Preston Triratna Buddhists

Buddhist Discussion

Explore Buddhist teachings and connect to a warm and friendly community.

We meet each Friday at 19:00 - 21:00 to meditate together and discuss the Dharma.

We have a simple message to share …

Change is possible and we believe in the power of mindfulness, meditation, ethics, compassion and wisdom, as exemplified by the Buddha.

We meditate together each week and explore the Buddha's teachings, considering how we can bring these teachings into our everyday lives.

About Maitriloka Preston

Triratna Buddhist Shrine

We are a growing community of people local to Preston and the surrounding area;  A friendly community of people following the Triratna tradition of Buddhism. The Preston Triratna Group developed following the closure of the Blackburn Triratna Centre. Blackburn Centre was known as Maitri House.  We want to honour that as we develop our community in Preston and have used the name Maitriloka

  • Maitri (Sanskrit) translates to loving-kindness, friendliness, or benevolence.

  • Loka translates to world, realm or place.

Preston Buddhist Group is part of the worldwide Triratna Buddhist Community which was founded in 1968 by Sangharakshita, an English Buddhist monk, who spent 20 years in India absorbing the depth and breadth of the Buddhist teachings.
