A Centenary Celebration

All the riches that we enjoy here in the Manchester Sangha and Centre – a clear path of Dharma practice; our system of meditation; the importance of spiritual friendship; and much more – stem from the insights Sangharakshita had about what it means to go for refuge to the Three Jewels. Through him we know what it means in practice to live a full Dharma life.

Every year since 2003 we have celebrated Triratna’s founder and teacher, Sangharakshita, by holding a Sevenfold Puja dedicated to him. This year we have a very special opportunity of marking the centenary of his birth. At each puja we’ve taken a photo of the sangha members present and recorded their names. This also acts as a record of our sangha for future generations.

On the day of his birth, 26th August, you can join an online international celebration, hosted from Adhisthana. Meanwhile, in Manchester on Saturday 30th August, we want to hold the biggest puja we’ve ever seen in this annual marking of Sangharakshita’s birth. We invite you to come and fill the Lotus Hall and celebrate with us.

As part of the celebrations we will also hear from three sangha members about what Sangharakshita means for them. They may speak of a particular teaching, a meeting with him, or a poem that has been significant.
